INFORMATION LITERACY (LABORATORY)

Knowledge is power
Knowledge can be used in various situations. It gives us power to know anything that helps us in achieving our goal. Knowledge is next to success if we put hard work on it. More knowledge leads a person to gain more power.

How does information become knowledge?
Information becomes knowledge when a person gets able to apply or adapt the information in different situations and utilize it. Also when he/she uses it right and share with other people it becomes knowledge.

State the importance of giving credit to the source of one’s work.
Giving credit is very significant because someone else’s work is an intellectual property of one person. You should recognize and understand that person’s idea. When you give credit, by not just you recognizing his skill but also share it with other people. Also, not giving credit is considered plagiarism.

An information literate individual

To be an information literate individual, is to be able to think critically. It is the one who gives and receives information with the idea of how to use it in a responsible manner. A person should not only need to be able to read for information, they also need to identify what’s real and not. One must understand what he/she had researched with deeper approach so that the information could be a source when someone need to explain something. A person should also know how to make self-opinions to be considered as a literate person.

THE EVOLUTION OF TRADITIONAL TO NEW MEDIA

MY PERSONAL TIMELINE

INTERNET OF THINGS
a) In your own words, define Internet of Things
                - The Internet of things is the interconnection of networks that enables devices to send or receive data with the use of internet.

b) What brought this theory about?
                - Internet of Things refers to all unconventional electronic devices that exchange data via the internet using a local or a wireless network. It can be consumer electronics like fitness trackers, home appliances, like web cams, voice assistants. The main principle of this means that everything that can be connected will be connected.

c) Do you like the concept of IoT? Why or why not?
                - Yes, It gives me benefits throughout my life and this concept helps us to live our lives easily.

 d) In what situations do you encounter Internet of Things in the Philippines?
First is when I use computers to search information. Second, when I use my smart phone to communicate and share information. Third, using applications in my mobile phones that helps me to get information I need. A good example for this is Waze. Lastly, when people use grade/uber as their transportation.

e) How do you think IoT will evolve and affect Filipino society in the next 3 to 5 years?
                - The Internet of Things  has the power to change our world. And while we are starting to see its incredible impact, we are still very much at the beginning of the transformational journey. Soon I think that every device a person own and nearly every object will be connected to the Internet. Whether it’s through your phone, wearable tech or everyday household objects, the Internet of Things will connect us in ways we can’t even imagine yet after 3-5 years.                .

f) What do you think is the relationship/ cause and effect of IoT in media and information literacy?
                - With the IoT, it can have negative effects to us because we might take advantage of using IoT. But on the other hand, there will be more opportunities for people to be literate when it comes to media and information since it provides plenty of resources that can be used to share information to other people.
