INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY (LECTURE)

INTRO 1 - WRITTEN WORK 1. In your opinion, what makes an individual literate in media and information?         - There are many ways to consider an individual literate in media and information. One is they consider social media or information technology beneficial for them to work easier. I think they are considered literate in media and information if they know what they consume and can make proper decisions or opinions based on the information they consume. They can evaluate references or sources based on his/her understanding that coheres with a fact without thinking what other`s reaction about the media and information.

2. What activities / habits do you practice which illustrates media and information literacy? Give at least 3 examples.                  I often use internet and social media for me to have access with my friends and school mates. I think my habits are considered media and information literacy like searching in websites to help me in my home works. It is considered literacy in media and information because I used it and understands the benefits or uses of it. Also, I often read blog sites or links regarding new technologies. I also use Facebook and other sites to be updated in the current issues and events around me.

Media Literacy- it is that ability to analyze and evaluate media Information Literacy- it is the ability to know when there is a need  for information. It also refers to our skill to create information to be understood by others. Media and Information Literacy- it is the ability to gain more information / knowledge about a subject that can affect our decisions in life. MISCONCEPTIONS:                   I thought that it is only about accessing technology but i learned that appropriate use of technology must always be present and i learned that a person should take his/her responsibility in different information and knowledge with the use of technology.
